Responding to the above, Michael Achimugu, the Executive Director Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority denied the NCAA making such comments on the matter. In his post on X, Michael stated as below;

Untrue. My post had NOTHING to do with that incident, and I did not grant you any interviews. As at the time of my post, I was boarding a flight from Abuja to Lagos to anchor an event on flight disruptions at Raddison, Ikeja. I made two posts to educate both engers and the presenting company, offering a tech solution at the event, Aero Assist Hub. I have been educating engers and all stakeholders with this message for over a year.

About the senators case, let me make this clear:

1. The NCAA can only get involved if the aggrieved parties file a complaint. As of this moment, no complaint has been sent to me. By law, the NCAA does not take up cases unless there is a complaint.

2. The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, @fkeyamo, is already handling this case. The NCAA will not breach protocol.

3. The NCAA has not made any statement, official or not, on this matter.

I declared the programme open and left Mrs Ikwo Uloh to sit in for me while I rushed to meet with the fanily of a enger who died on board an aircraft on a flight from Nigeria to Canada.

I only became aware of this case from X, and then reports from my consumer protection officers at the terminals, much later.

It is only in Nigeria that we adopt modern technology or practices without understanding how they work just so we can say we have this or that system and then ignore the system and revert to our anyhowness. Nigeria is a place where a company or govt agency will have a website for the sake of having a website that lacks relevant basic information or contains outdated information for its customers or citizens but hey “we have a website”. Once you have checked in whether online or at the counter you have no business with the check in counter except you have luggage. You go straight to the boarding gate once your flight is called.

What is the point checking in online if you have to check in at the desk?

If a man has checked in online and arrived at the airport at 5:am but did not visit the counter because he had no reason to having checked in online, according to you and this full Achimugu, an airline has the right to bounce him?

It matters not whether I arrive at 5am or even 7am. So far as If I have checked in (whether online or at the counter) and my flight has not finished boarding, you cannot bounce me!
