Tragedy struck Yelewata on Friday night as suspected armed herdsmen launched a deadly attack around 10:00 pm, leaving several people dead and many others injured.

According to early reports received around 4:00 am Saturday, at least 16 individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries in the assault.

The exact number of fatalities is yet to be confirmed, as authorities continue to gather information from the scene.

In response to a distress call, operatives of the Nigerian Army and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) moved to the area but were ambushed in Daudu while en route.

The ambush resulted in the tragic death of two soldiers and one Civil Defence officer.

“These brave men paid the ultimate price in service to our people. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” a community source stated, mourning the fallen security operatives.

Survivors of the attack are currently receiving treatment at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) in Makurdi. Medical personnel have made an urgent appeal for blood donations to save the lives of the injured.

Citizens and humanitarian organizations have been urged to provide immediate to the victims, especially through blood donations and medical assistance.

“My heartfelt condolences go to the families of the victims, especially our fallen heroes in uniform,” said a concerned resident, who also refrained from sharing graphic images from the scene out of respect for the victims and community standards.

At what point do we start calling these people terrorists?

When Tinubu you declares them terrorists and start going after them like they go after IPOB in the south east, instead he is focused on 2027 reelection.

I will still say it again, if you are a Nigerian and you still see IPOB as a terrorist group then you are one of the most deceived people in Nigeria, because how can you tell me a certain group of people killing Nigerians all over Nigeria in their ancestral lands have not been proscribed and challenged by the Nigerian government.

But a group that was created to fight this same killers was proscribed, declared a terrorist group and fought by the Nigerian government till date.

I have asked this question many times and nobody has been able to answer it:

Can any Nigerian show me just one news link of the Nigerian government/Military going after or killing Fulani herdsmen in the southeast like they they go after IPOB/ESN?

Please I am waiting, prove to me that the present Nigerian government/Military is not a terrorist organization ing terrorist groups like Fulani herdsmen to kill Nigerian citizens for political gains?

May their souls rest in peace, The government/military that was supposed to protect them sabotaged their lives for political gains

I don't know where and how Fulani Herders got their strength from. Selfish of the house from south even president cannot be bold to end open grazing. Their political ambition and self benefit is more important to them. Too bad

The farming population of Nigeria is going gradually courtesy of the cattle rearing Fulani tribe. When they finish killing all crop growers in the land will they be eating only their cow meat?

The N/A should as a matter of urgency approach this benue issue like that of zamfara and other north east states. This people have an agenda to cleanse those tribes from their ancestral land. This is primitive and barbaric and should be forcedly rejected. We can no longer call these ones herdsmen. Enough is enough.

it's not about the people clamouring for the return of this present stration

There's something going on in this state that is fishy, it's either inter-tribal ethnic cleansing or political doings

This is not the only state in Nigeria but why this death trends in this particular state
