REFUTATION ON LERE OLAYINKA’S INTERVIEW ON ARISE NEWS – THE MORNING SHOW, FRIDAY, JUNE 5, 2025
1. I have never approached Minister Nyesom Wike to beg for money — that is a lie. If anyone — including an ex-partner — went to him under false pretences to solicit funds in my name, I place a clear disclaimer. Such actions were not authorised by me, and Minister Wike reserves every right to call it out as fraud.
2. Like many others, I was invited by the EFCC for questioning — a lawful and procedural engagement. At no time was I asked to return any money. In fact, the EFCC under Former Chairman, Ibrahim Magu later issued an apology to me.
3. Lere Olayinka clearly misused the word “hubris” — a basic dictionary reference would have sufficed. I will not indulge further in responding to him directly; he is not my peer. I await a more meaningful conversation — if any — from his principal, not his proxy.
4. I am not Rotimi Amaechi’s spokesperson, nor do I have his phone number. That’s a fabrication.
5. I was not absent from The Morning Show to avoid any discussion. I was engaged at a pre-scheduled book review for “Oprah Benson – Live and Legend”, a 550-page publication by Dr. Udu Yakubu. It was an honourable intellectual commitment.
6. I stand firmly by everything I said regarding Minister Wike. He is a public official occupying a public office. He is, and should remain, subject to public scrutiny. Nobody in public service is above ability.
7. On the matter of Buruji Kashamu, it is important to state that the allegations against him were never proven in any court of law. Until his death, he was never convicted of any crime, either in Nigeria or abroad. Persisting in amplifying unproven accusations against the deceased is in poor taste and ethically questionable.
8. My heartfelt appreciation goes to my diligent team — Rufai Oseni, Vimbai, and our wider crew — for standing tall with pose and professionalism. And to my ever-ive wife, Kikelomo Atanda-Owo Abati, your strength remains my anchor.
May God bless Nigeria with true transparency, integrity, and boldness in public discourse.
“we are waiting for Amaechi in 2027 when he will come to any state in the South-East to open his lies-filled mouth. He will hear from us at the appropriate time, because we know he shall surely need Ndigbo again.
Lies.
Ndigb0 is a dot. Nobody needs their 5℅ votes to be President of Nigeria.
Alhaji Atiku visited Aregbesola at his country home in Ilesha Osun State (and not Lagos). While the political reason may not be completely ruled out, today is the coronation of the new Owa Obokun (king) of Ijesaland (Ilesha)
Aregbesola as well as Atiku's first wife, Titilayo are indigenes of Ilesha, so it is not surprising to see Atiku, their in-law, being invited to the ceremony.

Defection, as used by StatiSense, in this analysis is incorrect.
What is defection? It is desertion of one's country or cause (or party, in this case) in favour of an opposing (existing) one.
Tinubu has not defected to another existing party since 1999.
He was with the Alliance for Democracy (AD) from 1999 to 2007, helped form the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2006, and was key in merging parties to create the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2013. And the moment APC was formed, ACN (just like C) became defunct.
These transitions were due to party formations and mergers, not traditional defections. The sequence AD to ACN to APC is accurate but reflects new party creations rather than ing existing.
White smoke is pouring out of the Sistine Chapel chimney, signalling that a pope has been elected to lead the Catholic Church.
That means the winner secured at least 89 votes of the 133 cardinals participating in the conclave to elect a successor to Pope Francis. The crowd in St. Peter’s Square erupted in cheers. The name will be announced later, when a top cardinal utters the words “Habemus papam!” Latin for “We have a pope!” from the loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica. The cardinal then reads the winner’s birth name in Latin, and reveals the name he has chosen to be called.
The new pope is then expected to make his first public appearance and impart a blessing from the same loggia.
Popular social media activist, Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, VDM, has regained his freedom from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
DAILY POST reports that VDM has been in the custody of the anti-graft agency since he was arrested in Abuja on Friday.
There has been uproar across the nation with Nigeria youths demanding his immediate and unconditional release.
EFCC said on Tuesday that the arrest followed a series of petitions against the activist, claiming that several invitations were communicated to him but he failed to honour them.
In an update on his official Facebook page on Wednesday evening, an activist cum politician, Omoyele Sowore, said “VDM Released”!
Setting The Records Straight/Public Apology To Seyi Tinubu
Please permit me dear Nigerians to set the record straight regarding my video that currently went viral across social media platforms. In the video, I alleged that the son of the President, Mr Seyi' Tinubu and the Minister of Youths and Sport, Ayodele Olawande, invited me to Lagos. I further stated that the Minister and I hugged , and thereafter offered me #100,000,000 to President Bola Ahmad Tinubu but that I rejected the offer.
In the video, I also alleged that, for what they considered my stubbornness to reject their #100,000,000, I was on the 15th of April, 2025 abducted, stripped naked and thoroughly beaten up and in connivance with the MD of the Nigerian Television Authority ( NTA), I was taken to the station where an involuntary statement purportedly abdicating my position as NANS President was obtained under duress.
It has become imperative to note that the offer of N100,000,000 which was alleged was made to me to President Tinubu was clearly untrue as Ladoja Olusola, who was desperate to get me out of my legitimate position as the duly elected President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), fed me the lies and half truths for the sole purpose of achieving his selfish agenda of taking over the reigns of the student body through the back doors.
It was also Ladoja Olusola, who warned me that Mr Seyi Tinubu could order my killing and thereafter instruct the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokum, to bury the matter.
It also stated among other things, that Seyi' Tinubu led thugs to the venue of my Inauguration. This was very untrue. I made these claims owing to the picture of Seyi Tinubu painted to me by Ladoja Olusola who swore to me that Seyi was doing everything to ensure I am not alive to serve my tenure as NANS president. Infact, I later found out that Mr Seyi' was nowhere near the venue.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has explained why it arrested popular rights activist Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkBlackMan (VDM).
Speaking to BBC News Pidgin, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said the arrest was made following several petitions from individuals who had complaints against the activist.
“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners,” Oyewale said.
When asked if the petitions were connected to GT Bank, he explained that the complaints came from different people and that the EFCC has a duty to protect the identities and interests of those who reported the matter.
He added, “We will release him once he meets the bail conditions, and we will take the case to court as soon as possible. We are law-abiding.”
Oyewale also confirmed that the activist was arrested in Abuja.
The development comes shortly after VeryDarkMan went to a bank in Abuja with his mother to inquire about her .
EFCC secures court order to remand VeryDarkMan, prepares charges
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured a court order to remand social media activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), pending the conclusion of an investigation into alleged cybercrime offences.
VDM was arrested last Friday at a bank branch in the Wuse area of Abuja by a combined team of EFCC operatives, officers of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force.
Eyewitnesses said he was accosted shortly after exiting the bank premises.
His arrest sparked widespread outrage on social media, with the hashtag #FreeVDM trending across platforms throughout the weekend.
Critics have accused authorities of using security agencies to silence dissenting voices.
Sources close to the investigation confirmed that the EFCC is preparing to file charges under Nigeria’s Cybercrimes Act, which empowers the commission to investigate and prosecute cybercrimes, particularly those involving financial and economic crimes.
“The remand order was granted to allow us to complete our investigation and finalize the charges,” a senior EFCC official said, adding that “he would be arraigned once we conclude that process, and the charges are expected to be substantial,” a source said.
As of Monday morning, VDM remains in the custody of the EFCC. His legal representative, Deji Adeyanju, issued a formal statement last week confirming that they are seeking access to him and reviewing possible legal actions.
The EFCC has not issued an official statement on the arrest or the charges.

The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, recently visited the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, at his Abuja residence to beg for reconciliation, TIMES has learnt.
The visit came a few days after Mr Fubara held a meeting in London with President Bola Tinubu over his (Fubara) political feud with Mr Wike, which led to Mr Tinubu declaring an emergency rule in the oil-rich Rivers and suspending Mr Fubara and other elected officials for an initial six months.
TIMES learnt from sources that Mr Fubara was led to Mr Wike’s residence by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Olusegun Osoba, a former governor of Ogun.
“Fubara was brought to the minister’s house on Friday, 18 April. He prostrated for Wike while holding his legs and calling him, ‘My Oga’,” one of the sources said.
“He was in Wike’s house till the wee hours of Saturday, 19 April,” the source added.
The meeting outcome remains a secret, as those familiar with it have been unwilling to speak. Still, our reporter gathered that Mr Fubara was told to assemble his ers in Rivers, especially the elders, and tell them the “truth” about his feud with Mr Wike.
Mr Wike’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, confirmed to TIMES that the meeting occurred, but said he was not privy to what was discussed.
When ed, Nelson Chukwudi, a spokesperson to Mr Fubara, said, “I don’t respond to this kind of enquiry. You can the commissioner for information.”
The Commissioner for Information in Rivers, Joseph Johnson, did not respond to calls from our reporter.
Background
Mr Fubara and his predecessor, Mr Wike, fell apart in less than six months after Mr Fubara assumed office as governor.
The political crisis split the state’s legislature into two factions, with 27 lawmakers loyal to Mr Wike and three to Mr Fubara. The governor had recognised the three-member faction because he believed the others “lost” their seats in the assembly since they had “defected” from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
However, the 28 February 2025 Supreme Court judgement tipped the balance of power in favour of Mr Wike and his allies.
The court reinstated the pro-Wike faction as the legitimate Rivers assembly, stopped federal allocations to the state, and nullified the local elections earlier conducted by Mr Fubara’s istration.
On 14 March, the Rivers House of Assembly served a notice of alleged misconduct against Mr Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, as a preliminary step for their impeachment.
In a notice addressed to the Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, the 26 lawmakers, among other things, accused Mr Fubara of spending Rivers funds without approval from the state assembly and appointing people to run the government without the required screening and confirmation.
The lawmakers also accused Mr Fubara of hindering or obstructing the assembly from its constitutional functions and seizing salaries, allowances, and funds belonging to lawmakers, the clerk, and the assembly.
They accused the Deputy Governor, Mrs Odu, of “conniving and ing the illegal appointment of persons to occupy offices/positions in the Rivers State Government without allowing for the requirement of screening and confirmation”.
The impeachment plot began about the time Mr Fubara removed the elected chairpersons of the local councils in obedience to the Supreme Court rulings. The governor said he was willing to implement all the Supreme Court’s decisions.
Nigerians have expressed outrage over the emergency rule in Rivers and the removal of Mr Fubara and other elected officials.
