So someone can't make very short comments? 🙄
Well as you can see, it is what it is. I came across information indicating that the purpose behind this restriction is to prevent individuals or entities from monopolizing space for their own advertising agendas or product promotions. I find myself somewhat perplexed by this reasoning. Nevertheless, I feel that dwelling on this topic further could divert attention away from the valuable discussion we're having in this thread

I haven't watched the movie yet despite ing it since it came out.
I've just seen bits and pieces of it from my siblings watching it on TV. I wasn't really impressed and my impression of it is more or less a popcorn flick.
I'd create time for it sooner than later tho.
Alright. I'll be following you on nairaland specifically for this purpose. You need not read up to this point. Nairaland made me do it

abduleez1: SINNERS......7.5/10
Really good vampire horror movie.... The sound and pic quality was just exceptional.
The storyline and storytelling while really good ain't all that exceptional like it was hyped up to be. It's a great movie and a cinematic masterpiece on its own and bringing much needed confidence and impetus to Original movies once again, with its box office.
It might not be the best movie of the year but it's surely played its role as probably the most important movie of the decade championing the cause of making great Original stories once more in an already saturated Hollywood with pre-existing IPs.
The actors truly delivered... Michael B Jordan and the entire crew.
A top tier movie— a really enjoyable one at that, cos I really enjoyed myself throughout my time watching the movie, but it just fell short in over promising what it couldn't deliver, due to the North American hype.
And weirdly enough, this movie still has the trait of Ryan Coogler's movies where his movies are praised to the high heavens as the next best thing after slice bread and as a cultural phenomenon just like when Black Panther came out. But alas it's more or less pandering to the sensibilities of Black Folks.
I saw some people talking up about its "African roots" with the connection of music to the Black slaves etc, but at best it was just surface level storytelling and failed to explore what's so special about music integration in the average black American life.
The much talked about music scene at the bar, I don't see much special about it, it was really good but I'm not seeing the masterpiece in it.
I really prefer the Irish folktale songs.
Kudos to the actors, they did an impeccable job with the delivery and that really elevated the movie for me.
I loved the sexiness in the movie. It was somewhat mild compared to what I was expecting due to its R rating. But great eroticism nonetheless, with my fave being Preacherboy Sammie and that irresistible Jamie Lawton. 🤤
But not gonna lie, this movie probably has hands down the best sound design, engineering and sound score I've heard in a movie from this year. I give it that. It's cinematography is also top notch as well as the impeccable colour grading matching the look I'd expect of a period piece around that era. I loved the browns.
So, this movie has a strong statement challenging for glory in the technical awards....Best movie of the year? I doubt that. Solid film overall.
Can you direct me to your review on brave new world?

RaphaellaDD: When The Phone Rings
I really enjoyed this drama! The fact that they made it 12 episodes instead of 16, ensured that it didn't have a lot of draggy moments.
I loved the main and side couples a lot. The newscaster and the doctor were too cute together!!! I obviously loved the chemistry between Sae-on and Hee Jo. Ugh. Love love love them!
And then watching BTS clips of them and seeing how they flow well together, I want to ship but I REFUSE TO! 🫠
Now, to some key points, some of which drove me crazy:
* After everything they've been through. Was he the one who killed her brother?
So after all the wasted years of them not enjoying their marriage, this man had the audacity to run away to 'punish' himself? Universe save me from foolish men.
* Warzone Everybody is mad in this drama.
So this babe packed her bag and flew to a 'warzone' because of her idiot husband? See why people should not fall in love? Foolish decisions always follow.
Back to Sae-on. Chile. So even if he wanted to punish himself, he went to somewhere he could die? Like what was he thinking? That last episode annoyed the hell out of me, I won't lie.
* Let's say his 2 years of military service and extra training from working in the presidential office was how he was able to save her from the rebels.
These fools now started screaming and quarrelling outside? Deep sigh.
First of all, they told Aunty that the place he was staying was rebel territory and she had to be careful. This fine girl wore her Christmas cloth that was WHITE and started running around in the forest.
She should have just carried a banner saying 'kidnap me, please'
* Then they did not consummate their marriage since o. They didn't do it in the comfort of their luxury apartment in Seoul. Instead they decided to do it in the middle of nowhere, kudos to them
This one annoyed me. Did you see their different beds in their Seoul apartment? But they decided to have their first time in where I don't know on what I don't know.
I hope bed bugs entered their private parts. I hate what I hate.
* Her mother and sister can eat shit for all I can. Especially her mother, very useless.
* What else? Oh the villains, hmm. Anyway, this wasn't a serious crime drama so I'll forgive them.
The 'real' Sae-on was just too clumsy to not have been caught all this while. Come on.
Then his adoptive mother was just in need of psychiatric help and I say this as a matter of fact. Well, she can get that in prison, right?
* Then that secretary of his, I wanted to beat him up. I understand his motive sha.
And Sae-on brought him back to work for him? How do you build up trust in such a person again?
Side note: I thought Sae-on was the twin brother he was looking for until it was hinted that he was the chairman's son.
I'll give the drama a 7/10. It would have been an 8/10 but that warzone angle was too unnecessary 🥲
I will probably rewatch this one sometime in the future. Review/Rant over.
Well done... I hope you feel better
One of the benefits of ranting is that you don't necessarily need someone to respond to you; all you really need is to be heard, and your feelings acknowledged without any judgment.

Purposely skipped through episode 7 of second shot at love and only properly watched episode 8 cos like I said last week, there's not much story left for the drama. I can't wait for it to end next week. Right now I'm only invested in the sister's love story and unfortunately her arc is like 1.5% of the drama 🤣
Tastefully yours has ended. it was a just there, simple and nice romcom. nothing too special. lol finally Park ji hoon made his physical appearance 🤣 the weak hero class 2 reference made me laugh. speaking of weak hero class 2, I guess bae Nara is a favorite actor for the director to cast from d.p season 2 to weak hero class 2 to tastefully yours. I'm happy he's getting more work and I hope someday he's cast in a musical drama, I still can't get over his singing in season 2 of d.p urghh so good
4 of apink signed with the same agency. I actually believe them when they say they'll continue to promote as apink even though they aren't with their original agency. It's more believable than if all the ed 4 different agencies. Anyway I wish them well in all their endeavors cos all the both act and sing

"Mercy For None" is an intensely gory and gritty action drama that plunges its audience into a world of relentless violence and bloodshed. It's reminiscent of our favorite action hero, John Wick, but with a distinct twist - this is a Korean rendition, where the high-octane action doesn't revolve around bullets whizzing through the air. Instead, the chaos is carved out with knives, making for a brutal and visceral experience.

I really doubt it will happen but tbh I won't mind if he becomes an anti hero. It will make a difference as all male leads of similar dramas are clearly heroes but if this one ends up turning bad, it'd actually be a welcome twist. An annoying one but still very welcome lol especially since we know he has mental issues plus the bullying from his dad, it'd make sense for him to overdo things and turn bad . Although it's probably not going to happen sha, he's the main lead for a reason 🤷
Alright... Since it's coming from you... Queen of dramas... Hands up 🙌

lol at this point the drama is just a bunch of kids fighting and bullying each other pointlessly🙄 you'd think with all the beating the male leads gave the bullies from episode 1-4 that they'd change their ways but aigoo they're right back to bullying, lol don't they ever get tired. anyway I'm glad the drama ends this week. I need the male lead and his parents to go see a psychiatrist. I really hope he won't just put his partner in trouble, that one is fighting for a good cause but it's obvious uri male lead is suicidal among other mental issues and he's only fighting because that's the only outlet he has and to make himself numb to his feelings. If care is not taken he'll cause a big problem for the other guy. H for HAIGOO . reminds me of Lee Jun hyuk and Nam Joo hyuk's dynamic in vigilante. one person was doing it for a good cause, the other person was just plain crazy lol
Furthermore, I truly hope his character retains the qualities that make him relatable, rather than evolving into an anti-hero, much like the situation with Beomseok. Who knows? Perhaps this is why the title cleverly includes the word "one." Enjoy your viewing experience, and I hope the drama leaves you with many joyful memories.
"Mercy for None" is progressing splendidly, capturing my attention fully. I have some apprehension about finishing it too quickly without having another engaging drama lined up. Typically, I rush to the end of a series only if it fails to captivate me or if there's another, more enticing option waiting on my watchlist. Once I've completed it, I'll definitely share my thoughts and write a comprehensive review.

This evening, I finally managed to finish watching "WHC 2!" My main motivation to keep watching was probably to just complete it for the sake of completion—or perhaps, to fulfill all righteousness, as they say. At some points, I did feel somewhat left out as the series progressed. It took a great deal of inner determination to see it through to the end. A small part of me is yearning for a third season where we could witness a reunion of Beomseok and Suho with their three new friends or even a return of Na Seon Je and Beomseok as villains. Either scenario would be appealing to me, as I'm not satisfied with how this season concluded.
Contemplating what a third season could bring, I think a substantial angle would be to address how the school as an institution itself tackle school bullying as seen in Study Group. The current portrayal seems to subtly convey the message of fighting violence with violence, which isn't the best approach in my view. The 'school factor' was removed and used only as a setting.
In “WHC,” Season 1 touched on issues like political corruption, business malpractices, and parental neglect but didn’t delve deeply into them. It revealed school violence as a consequence of larger societal and familial problems. Season 2 seemed to explore themes like peer pressure. Yet, there's a sensation that something is missing, with the underlying message feeling incomplete. How do parents and society, which are at the root of these issues, contribute to the solutions? After all, as the saying goes, charity begins at home. Perhaps I’m examining this drama too seriously. As @Ovems accurately pointed out, perhaps they invested too much effort in the action scenes and CGI while neglecting the core message of the story. It’s evident that Season 2 was heavily influenced by new production team's direction.
If this truly marks the end, then I would say it was a fairly good drama.

Lol I've actually talked about it before, it's really nothing serious. The thing is, it took me a long time to warm up to dramas. Infact I started listening to kpop before I started watching dramas. I always thought they were silly and I would rather watch my American tv shows. The first time I ever tried to watch a drama, it was a sageuk yi San and it was like 1hr plus per episode and it seemed really long cos I was coming from watching American shows that were like 45 minutes per episode. Also I kept watching and the main leads refused to grow up on time (in my eyes lol) I'm coming from American shows where 15 minutes is enough to make the main character grow up and get on with the story. I didn't see why I had to watch children for so long knowing that the characters were still going to become adults 🤣. I dropped yi san after 1 episode cos I didn't have the patience. I tried to go modern by watching boys over Flowers but it was even worse. I didn't get why the classmates had to gather every morning to watch f4 come to school 🙄 like Monday - Friday? 🤣 I didn't understand why gu hye sun would be talking with her mouth full of food, it was just literally bleh. I dropped it after 3 episodes and decided dramas were not for me but a year later, boredom made me watch my girlfriend is a nine tailed fox that my roommate gave me and I realized it wasn't that bad so I decided to watch only modern dramas from that day onwards. Besides I know things have changed now but as at that time it seemed all the sageuk's had to do with palace stuff and fighting for kingship or to marry a prince and I was like were there no regular people in joseon? Why can't they make a sageuk about regular lives, why does everything have to be palace-y. Anyway that's why I never watch any sageuk. I guess I've never been bored enough to try another one 🤷🤣
What boredom cannot do does not exist 😀😀😀😀

Oh my ghost clients is nice, it's nothing new. Pretty much the usual warriors of justice fighting for the oppressed and downtrodden. Lol seeing seol in ah here reminds me of special labor inspector Jo and the dramas actually have a lot in common. They are both mbc dramas, they are both about unlawful workplace practices except male lead in slij was an "inspector" while here, uri lead is a lawyer. The male leads both have ex wives except here they aren't officially divorced so.. also in both dramas Seol in ah's character falls for a ing member of the group lol I wonder if both dramas are written by the same person cos the similarities are just too much. Happy to see n, yoo Seon ho and my queen kyung Soo jin, she's so worthy of lead roles but she rarely gets them 😩 loved the cameos especially the reunion of uri hospital playlist doctors
One: high school heroes is also nice but pretty much your typical weak hero class 1 wannabe. I feel like since weak hero class 1 all the other boys school bullying dramas are also following the same format. Male lead moves to a new school, he meets a friend who can also fight, a member of the bullies will suddenly become nice or friendly with the main guys lol rinse and repeat except here they took it a notch further by making them vigilantes. I don't mind tho, the dramas might be similar but I'm always happy to see how different actors play the roles and this drama is full of my faves and babies from the main leads to my big flo bias, myteen bias, myname bias, my super hot babe from not others and maestra: strings of truth. Everywhere I look it's just my husbands🤣 even the dead brother. I wonder if the therapist in this drama is a real life therapist cos I'm pretty sure I saw her in the trunk and she also played a psychiatrist there. I'm glad they released 4 episodes at once, this week we'll get 2 and next week the final 2 episodes. By the way, weak hero class 1 really traumatized me cos tell me why 10 minutes into episode 1 of this drama and I was seriously praying that we won't get a bumseok situation here😂😩 I can never forgive or forget that boy🤣 he scarred me for life
I apologize for tagging your post again, but I couldn't resist responding after reading your experience. Last night, I ended up staying awake much later than usual, all for the purpose of ing some Korean dramas and movies. Initially, I had two specific dramas in mind: "High School Heroes" (HSH) and "Dear Hongrang" (DH). However, here's the interesting twist—I didn't end up ing either of them. Based on your reviews and those from others, there doesn't seem to be anything particularly special in HSH that isn't already covered by "Study Group" (SG) and "Weak Hero Class" (WHC) 1 & 2. I'm quite certain that I wouldn't find HSH captivating if I had gone through with the , and I'd likely end up dozing off, which would just waste my data. Currently, I'm struggling with WHC 2; I've been stuck on episodes 7 and 8 for four whole days.
On the other hand, DH seemed like a viable option to , especially because it's a Saeguk, a genre I've grown to love. However, knowing that the story isn't complete and that season 2 isn't available made it a no-go territory for me. I felt awful and took some time to do more research before deciding to settle on "Mercy for None." I already like the storyline and just hope I won't regret this decision, as it would be like work done for nothing.
By the way, @Kang, was there ever a moment when you explained in this thread why you don't particularly enjoy or watch Saeguk dramas? Now that I've delved deeper into kdramas, I find them fascinating. I would love to hear from you about your thoughts. It seems that no matter how popular and anticipated a new drama is, you're quick to dismiss it if it's in the Saeguk genre. Could you share your reasons, if you don't mind?

His fighting becoming weaker was not a problem for me cos the title is literally weak hero🤣. Him seeming weaker was not also a problem cos I understood that the "loss" of suho was too much for him to handle. The main issue is I couldn't connect or get invested with any of the characters in season 2 unlike season 1 characters, not enough backstory or time to really understand/appreciate their psyche

🤣 And I literally just came here to say Study Group has spoilt other High School bullying/fighting dramas for me, only to see your mention. Oh the timing 😂😂. Study Group overtook Weak Hero Class One for me. The choreography of the fighting was just too good. The plot and characters was really good as well. Weak Hero Class One is now in number 2.
I just watched the first episode of One High School Heroes and I kept comparing it to Study Group. This isn't a healthy way to watch anything o. Wahala! 😄
Did you watch Study Group when it aired?
I viewed it post-broadcast, and the drama proved to be utterly enthralling. I savored every moment of it. While the action sequences were exaggerated and unrealistic, they contribute to its allure. Ultimately, it is an anime adaptation.
Please refrain from comparing other high school hero dramas with it. SG stands in a league of its own. I read that a second season is forthcoming, contingent upon the return of the main lead from military service.
I am eagerly anticipating it.
