Nigerians have taken to the streets to demand better governance and an end to economic hardship in the country.

The demonstration took place today, June 12, being Democracy Day in Nigeria.

The demonstrators, made up of civil society organisations and pro-democracy activists, assembled at the Ikeja Under Bridge in Lagos.

In Akure, Ondo State, protesters also gathered to make similar demands.

Videos from the protest grounds were shared by Take It Back Movement, one of the groups organising the demonstration.

The protesters carried banners and placards with their demands printed on them.

In Lagos, a large number of police officers, including personnel from the Nigeria Police Force’s Area F Division, were deployed on Thursday morning as protesters began to gather at the Ikeja Underbridge in Lagos to commemorate June 12 Democracy Day.

It is well, it is your right to protest with sense. If you want to be violent or disruptive please go to your village and start there.

Majority of us still love our peaceful country.

Unproductive people

Still on bed when I made the first transaction today. If they had something doing, they won't be wasting their time and energy protesting

How would government policies favour those who are not interested in being useful to themselves?

They are well within their rights to protest. But the question is….after the protest, what next??

A welcomed development. Because the Government of the Day needs to sit up and do the needful.

If protesters are blocking roads, it's because they are very many. That's an indication that the government is very bad.

You're free to gather and protest but don't infringe on others rights during the course of your protest.

Protest is an avenue to remind a terrible govt as Tinubu's of its 'terribleness'. Tinubu is a terrible president.

Every successive government in Nigeria is worse than the previous.

That is: Nigerians waiting to steal from the common wealth of the nation are more than those already stealing from it. Which way my people

If no other state protest, Ondo people should protest. As of today, Ondo State governor is the most useless and the worst performing governor in Nigeria.

Probably fun for the posters but not for the readers. There might be a very small percentage of times short posts are necessary, but mostly between private chats
