May be so. All I know is that ageing and senescence is caused by free radicals being generated by our bodies' every day metabolic reactions.

I was worried at the rate my dad, who is 78yrs aged so fast in such a short period. It all happened in a day and it has gotten worse ever since. This explains it.

Amen 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 Thanks for the response.

I sure have a great gene, ever youngy kind of gene. Also have athlete gym body and doing everything to keep it as that till old age. The fear came from old people's home experienced I had some years ago.

I believe I would still be in top shape at old age.....Regards

You can get old and still do things independently, even swiftly.
It depends on genetic, body weight and frame, and good condition of health.
I know people in their 80s going to 90s and still very much active
God help us

😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 You mean grandma actually prayed for longer life? It's like that fear is real o, to die get fear plenty....not easy to die and I guess it's because of the fear of the unknown. So much mystery about that place we are going when we die and that's the reason that nobody wants to die except some people that have been imbibed with queer mentality of 77 virgins awaiting them in heaven..... 😂 😂

jamesversion:

My grandma said same thing in 2008 when her friend was bedridden and had to be tended to like a baby.

When old age sickness befell my granny, she prayed for longer life.

So, its easier to say.

Ageing is inescapable. How fast we age is controllable. Dey there make age and gravity deform your looks. I dey gym almost daily to maintain a semblance of beauty. Vanity is not a bad thing.

Everyday, we are making steps to our grave.

Just one day, it will be over to the evil world 🌎

A wise man wouldn't want to grow young again.

A foolish old person devoid of wisdom, a child who died in his mother's womb is far better than that one even if he lived a hundred years and more.

Different races age differently.
Black people tend to remain constant age for a long period
Same with Asian people. Asian 60year old will still be looking like 25year old
It's white people that age the fastest in this world.

When Nigerian older women go overseas, they can just rub body cream, make their hair
and oyibo there will be thinking they are young girls.

And what is the life expectancy of Nigerians even the ones overseas? They are largely unhealthy.Obesity is high among Nigerians in the diaspora. The cellular and metabolic function is crucial for aging. On the contrary Oyibo live far healthier and longer than us.

No matter what, old age would come.

Insightful though!

Correct!

Old age? Lol. Death sef.

If you ask an angel what he thinks of the mortal man, he would tell you he re when God created the elements. He would tell you he still re when God created the Heavens and the earth. He would tell you he re when the first man was created. He would tell you he when a woman, the first woman, was created from his side - rib.

And ever since then, the earth has been a vast burying place.

One big, vast mortuary. The earth has been a giant mortuary.

Dem bury this one for here and that one for there! If it's not a cockroach, it's an ant; if it is not a Chimpanzee, it's a human. There's not a need to even talk about old age oo - we are all going to die.

This is a picture of Tesco shelves, a popular UK store nationwide.
It took me a while to understand what I was looking at.
Everything that is at your "eye" level is usually cheap, unhealthy food.
All the Items that are HIGHER or LOWER, near the bottom are more expensive AND HEALTHIER options same thing, but maybe a different brand.
The TYPICAL poor Nigerian immigrant will enter there, SEE things at EYE LEVEL, pick and buy.
And within 6 months all your fat and cholesterol have sky rocketed
-
Oyibo man will enter there, and be stretching up OR bending down, buying the more expensive AND healthier options, to remain healthy and live longer.
I'm only mentioning this one because I saw it live and direct by myself when I lived in UK.
Trust poor man na. I gained 6 kg weight in 6 months. I no fit bend down wear my socks again. That's when I knew I had to change immediately.
Any healthy eating is important for everyone. But it ain't cheap.

This is very educative.....I fear old age whenever I think of not having my independent any longer.....not able to do things myself immediately I needed to do it. Waiting on someone to come help out before I could do something very important.....Omg! I prefer to die before being rendered useless and dependent.....

A lot of people have this fear. I know a 79 year old woman that still moves around well, and she always tells me she wants to die before she gets to the point where she will be a liability to others

Spot on. When death stares in the face, people instantly become desperate to cling onto life. I think its part of human nature to want to live, no matter the circumstances.

There are still cheap and healthy options if one search for it.Another crucial factor is exercise.I watched London Marathon this year and was shocked to see that only 35 Nigerians took part in the race of over 58.000 participants.lndians,South Africans,Poles, Mexicans,Morrocans were many in the sporting event.Such low turnout by Nigerians, despite their relatively huge population in the UK,is a pointer to their inactive lifestyle and premature deaths. This explains partly why over 72% of black adults in the UK are overweight or living with obesity.

My Mum says the same exact word always......She is 76 going to 77 but still very strong and mentally alert. If we are strolling together through the park and I dare try to hold her maybe through a step or any crossing.....hey, my Mum will say you don't have to do that.... Don't turn me to an old woman faster than my age....I am still strong and able to help myself......men...my Mum na something else.....I will just burst into laughter..... Take care bro....

I love your write-up. If only we do these things, believe me, we won't take this life so hard, knowing fully well death is inevitable.

Hard to really ascertain. Some people in their 30s look older than those in 50s.
Weknowbetter: 12:16am On Jun 14
After 20 it slows down and we age every 7 years. A significant decline happens. Eyesight. Teeth. Memory. ts. Sagging skin.

I think, based on my own suggestion, that we grow every day. So, if you're a person who travels frequently and stays away from home for a week or a month, when you return the following month, you'll notice a different look. We do change, but I think what you're suggesting right now refers to the three stages of aging, which is good. However, whenever you travel for a long time and then return, you'll see that the person actually looks different. The person must look different because they are growing every day, and changes are occurring in their body every day. That's how we actually are. Well, thanks for sharing; it's wonderful knowledge.
