In 2012, under fuel subsidy, Benue State received about N6 billion per month from FAAC. That figure was approximately $40 million dollars, using $1/N150 rate.

Today in 2025, after subsidy removal, Benue State receives about N9 billion per month from FAAC. That figure is approximately $5 million dollars, using $1/N1800.

In real value, the FAAC given to states decreased by $35 million dollars despite fuel subsidy removal.

In 2012 oil was way above 110 dollars per barrel.and never went below 100.dollars.per barrel

Today oil is way below 75 dollars per barrel

In 2012 we had the money to pay for subsidies on fuel and dollars. Now we don't.

It probably was even better in 1978 when oil prices were high enough to keep one naira at one dollar.
